Russ earned a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. He has over 31 years of experience in the insurance industry, with over 21 years of public accounting experience and 9 years serving as the President and CEO of an insurance organization with multiple entities. Russ is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and has obtained his Series 7, 24, and 63 securities designations.
Russ has served insurance companies, financial institutions, and broker/dealers in his public accounting experience. He has provided audit, tax, and consulting services to property and casualty, life, and health insurance organizations and has served as an instructor for various insurance accounting seminars during his career.
As President and CEO at the insurance organization, Russ worked closely with all facets of a personal lines property and casualty insurer, overseeing marketing, underwriting, claims, and investments. He was responsible for establishing and implementing strategies, policies, procedures, and budgets for the organizations he managed and was responsible for reporting to the Boards of three related organizations.
Russ is active in insurance industry and other professional organizations and has served as a Board member on community organizations. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA), the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association (IASA). He is also an active member of the Wisconsin Insurance Accountants Conference. Russ has held various leadership positions in these organizations, ultimately serving as the President of both the Wisconsin Chapter of IASA and the WICPA. While in the insurance industry, he was also active in the Wisconsin Insurance Alliance and served as an officer of the organization.
