Mark is a CPA, and also holds the Certified Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. He obtained his bachelor's of business administration degree in finance and his mater's degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to joining our firm, Mark served as the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Insurance Security Fund for 14 years. Earlier in his career, he was a Partner in the CPA firm of Houghton, Taplick & Company, where he spent the majority of his efforts in the insurance industry.
Mark has served on various National Conference of Insurance Guaranty Fund committees, including the Accounting Issues Committee, Audit Committee, Mission Coordinating Committee, and other operational committees. Mark represented the guaranty funds on the MPC Executive Committee and Education and Accounting Committees. In 1999, Mark was elected to the board of the International Association of Insurance Receivers (IAIR) and was appointed Treasurer in 2000. He served until 2002.
Mark manages special projects for our firm. Most recently, he assisted on closing the California-based American Star Insurance Company, in liquidation, estate, and also provided expert consultation in a premium dispute on a property and casualty policy.
