Tom Dawson, Partner, CPA, CPCU

Tom is a CPA and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Tom has also achieved his Chartered Casualty Property Underwriter (CPCU) designation. Tom has been with the Firm since its inception and has 21 years of public accounting experience serving insurance companies.


Tom’s clients include property & casualty insurance companies of all sizes, for which he manages audit and tax engagements, and prepares and reviews income tax returns. In addition, Tom works with numerous clients in the preparation of their regulatory filings and consults on operational matters. He has been involved with the formation of several startup insurance companies, including assistance with the development of everything from corporate bylaws and articles of incorporation to reinsurance structure and agency agreements.  


Tom has developed and delivered insurance/accounting education courses externally to both clients and state insurance regulators. Tom has been instrumental in developing and training our staff on Strohm Ballweg audit and accounting methodologies. He also coordinates an annual project to review the guaranty association filings of the 75 largest life insurance companies, which is part of a joint effort of the NAIC and NOLHGA on behalf of the state insurance commissioners.


Tom is a member of the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association and the Wisconsin Insurance Accountants Conference. He is also a member of the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
